What to Bring on Outside Hilton Head Trips

What To Bring: 2-Hr Boat / Eco Tour
For an optimum experience on your adventure with us, please review the following:

___ Recommended attire is that which would be comfortable for a walk on the beach that day. The boat ride can be cool, even on a warm day , so bring outwear appropriate to the temperature with a “wind chill” (windbreaker and insulating layer, as necessary). You can compare it to being outside in the current temperature but with an air conditioner blowing directly on you.

___ Sun protection is important, regardless of the weather or season. We strongly recommend a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen.

___ During spring and fall mornings and evenings, bug spray might be necessary.

The 2-Hour Boat/Eco Tour offers an outstanding boat-based eco tour covering a wide area of the lowcountry estuaries. No experience is necessary. This program is suitable for ages 3 and up.

What To Bring: Marshside Mama's Experience
For an optimum experience on your adventure with us, please review the following:

___ Marshside Mama’s is what we lowcountry folk refer to as a “funky island restaurant.” It’s the kind of place we might hang out on our day off. To say that it’s “not fancy” is an understatement. Think relaxed-casual-barbeque-island-attire. “No shoes no service” doesn’t even come to mind. Collared shirts are o.k., but don’t even think about wearing a tie.

___ The boat ride can be cool, even on a warm day , so bring outwear appropriate to the temperature with a “wind chill” (windbreaker and insulating layer, as necessary).

___ You might want to take home a souvenir like a t-shirt or koozie, so bring some extra cash or a credit card.

___ Footwear might actually be optional… it’s hard to tell. The parking lot is dirt, so your fine whites are probably not a good idea. Sandals are what we wear when we dress up.

___ The giant pot-bellied pig wandering around is “Ned.” Sometimes he likes attention, but please don’t try to ride him. He’s on a diet, so no more beer, please. He’s already had a few too many.

___ Bug spray might be necessary and is a good idea to have “just in case.” Ned doesn’t seem to mind the no-see-ums, but you might.

___ Marshside Mama’s motto is “No Whining, Just Dance.” We all go there to have a good time, so bring a smile. If you don’t like the music, get up and put in a different CD. If there’s a band playing, you’re outta luck… Just Dance.

What To Bring: Page Island Lowcountry Boil Dinner
For an optimum experience on your adventure with us, please review the following:

___ Page Island is a remote, undeveloped sub-tropical environment. Prepare for heat and sun.

___ Lightweight, synthetic (quick-dry) clothing that offers sun protection is ideal.

___ Sun protection like hat, sunglasses and sunscreen is strongly recommended.

___ Short-lived afternoon rain showers are typical throughout the coastal lowcountry. We have two covered platforms on Page Island, but you might be more comfortable bringing along a light rain jacket if you’d like to stay “dry.” (“Dry” is a relative term in the humid climate of the southeast, and we locals welcome a refreshing rain shower to cool off on a hot day!)

___ We do have restrooms (head units like you’d find on a boat) and running water (via foot pump) for washing.

___ Swimsuits are not necessary, but are permitted. Taking a dip off the dock may be an option when conditions are appropriate. Footwear is required while swimming. Bring a towel if you’d like.

___ Bug spray might be necessary when the breeze calms down, so bring some just in case.
