What’s Included

Launching from Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina gives you access to protected waters and multiple route options. Choose:

• A single kayak for solo exploration

We provide the kayak, paddles, and required PFDs. Our team will also orient you to the area, discuss tide timing, and help you select a route that fits your comfort level.

A Word on Tides

We encourage renters to check tide charts, pay attention to wind conditions, and plan a realistic turnaround time. The tide will help you on the way out or on the way back, but rarely both. Knowing which is which makes all the difference.

What to Bring and What to Leave Behind

Here is one of our favorite pieces of advice:

Leave your phone and valuables in the car.

Broad Creek has a sense of humor, and what the creek claims, you rarely get back.

The good news? Our guides are happy to capture photos during your tour and AirDrop them to you afterward. You get the memories without the stress of protecting your device.

If you absolutely must bring valuables, a secure dry bag is highly recommended. Even experienced paddlers encounter splashes, surprise drips, or the occasional off-balance moment.

Additional Planning Tips

• Dress for getting wet. Quick-dry clothing is ideal.
• Wear sun protection. Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen.
• Bring water. Hydration is essential in the Lowcountry heat. A simple snack is not a bad idea either.
• Always wear your provided PFD. It is a USCG requirement.
• Be mindful of the weather. It can change fast here. Out on our water you become part of a maritime community that watches out for each other. Do not hesitate to wave down a passing boat and ask for help or guidance.
• Respect wildlife by keeping a safe and appropriate distance.
